Toroa

One of our blogging buddies is Toroa Year 1 class at Wigram School.

We asked them what Toroa meant and they sent us a reply...

Kia ora Room 6,
Thank you for your comment and questions about our learning. We have learnt lots of things about Toroa.

  • They mainly live around New Zealand.
  • They are white and black birds with a yellowy beak.
  • They can fly really fast.
  • Toroa eat small fish and squid and can live for up to 60 years!
  • Their wings can be up to 3 metres wide.
We wanted to see how wide their wings are so we measured 3 metres on the floor with some students. We found out that 3 metres is as long a 2 and a half children.

Have you ever seen a Toroa?
